there was that time we got lost climbing the mountain in early june. you thought you knew the path. the sun was starting to set & i’ve always been afraid of the forest at night but you swore you knew the way & the view of the city lights would be worth it. you could see for miles. you could see for years. if we could just get to the top we could change everything. i wanted to change everything. i planned to climb to the top & scream everything i hated & everything i’d lost out into the wind to be carried westward into the past. i planned to scream your name.

here. words. )

The Christmas lights, the human beings, the cars -- everyone running faster and faster.

Hitler! Nazis! You ask for three colours (red, white and black) and that is all that comes into your mind. And the bus just goes by as if nothing is peculiar nothing is strange why would it be?

i hope you get all that you want )

my name is ely. as in the bible but spelt like the river in wales. suffice to say in introduction that i was, for a long time, a wandering heart in a stagnant circumstance and have only recently hoisted sail on my first greatest adventure. as it were, i spend most of my days combating existential crises, adhering to convention by scribbling futilely in a moleskine and drowning in the artistic, intellectual and political history of my current city of residence.

i have traveled far and wide and i have met happy gypsies, as the old anthem says. here's to our burgeoning relationship.

Through all of youth I was looking for you
without knowing what I was looking for

or what to call you I think I did not
even know I was looking how would I

have known you when I saw you as I did
time after time when you appeared to me

as you did naked offering yourself
entirely at that moment and you let

me breathe you touch you taste you knowing
no more than I did and only when I

began to think of losing you did I
recognize you when you were already

part memory part distance remaining
mine in the ways that I learn to miss you

from what we cannot hold the stars are made.
